RITA MORICONI: NECESSARIO RAFFORZARE LA PREVENZIONE
Il prossimo February 6th is celebrated the World Day against female genital mutilation.
This horrible practice which affects 130 million women and 2 million girls worldwide, but that does not save, because of migration, the countries of Europe, including Italy, where more than 1000 women / girls who have undergone the practice and those thousands that could potentially become a victim.
Rita Moriconi, Regional Director of the PSI, has tabled a question in which he requested the Regional Council "to address this issue through a delicate and dramatic - the text reads - all the tools in the region has and specific activities such as: the 'update data on the incidence of the phenomenon, the detection of the same actions, verification of the competence and training of staff working in clinics, provision of supportive and welcoming for women who have suffered or potentially can undergo female genital mutilation, implementation strategies for law enforcement, prevention and information about the practice.
"Freedom of choice, support and solidarity are values \u200b\u200bthat different cultures have a duty to ensure" Moriconi said "as institutions and, simply, as citizens of the world."
